As I sit at my table in a popular coffee shop sipping on my Pumpkin spiced latte; it is Halloween season after all; I notice a few environmentally scary things that are relevant to Halloween...

1. The straw I used for my drink
2. The number of plastic coffee cups around me
3. The trash cans filled to the brim
4. The number of lights on in a brightly lit room in the day
5. People walking around with plastic bags

Why do I notice this around Halloween? Well, for one, it is known to be a scary and ghostly festival. But what is scary is that ordinary sightings are adding to the list of scares impacting the environment. How can we change this?

1.  The straw in my cup could have been replaced considering I am sitting in the store and not moving around with my coffee.
2. If I am indeed deciding to sit in the store to have my drink, can I not use a ceramic or paper cup instead?
3. The trash cans are full because of what we feed it. Think about every item we discard so easily and see how we can avoid or minimise it.
4. In a brightly lit store that has bay windows with sunlight flooding in, is it really necessary to have all the lights on? The spots overhead barely make a difference to me finding my way around the store or lighting my snack or drink on the table.
5. Carry your own bags and put as many things inside it in order to avoid asking for an extra plastic bag. This will not only minimise your bag usage, but you will also have one less bag to handle!

Do your bit, everyone else will follow.

Namma Metro in Bengaluru!

After many months of, well, struggling rather hard at my workplace and thus not giving enough time to my blog, I now find myself in the land of gardens and now the land of Namma Metro! Only months after it began I consider myself among the lucky 10,000 to experience the much awaited Metro ride in Bangalore. And it was definitely worth the wait! So, how was it all? Smooth as hell! As of now, the Metro operates only in seven stations- from M.G. road to Byanapalli and it takes just about 15 minutes and costs just Rs.15! With sparkling clean interiors that is comfortably air-conditioned, there is adequate space to sit and stand. There are even small TV screens displaying educational content, while the male and female announcers are continuously announcing either the station names or regular instructions. To maintain this level of cleanliness, no food or drink is allowed anywhere on the Metro or any of the stations. Without further ado, let's bring out the visuals!! First view ...

To Town and Back...!

"What's wrong," she asked. I looked at her curiously and said, "Absolutely nothing! Why would there be something wrong on a day like this?" Confused? I am talking about the stunning weather that Bombay is experiencing this very minute! Light blue clouds and windy skies; can it get any better? While I was lying around on the ' katta' just staring into nothingness, my sister seemed to have got a little worried about my condition! Our morning started early, giving us more hours in this day. We stepped out of home at 7 only to drive to town and meet a certain gentleman at the Taj. Following which our hungry tummies were satisfied by a scrumptious breakfast at Cafe Mondegar! Bacon, eggs, sausages...the works! We even had a group of Harley hurlers give us company at breakfast, only to ride off into the sunset?! No wait, that is a completely wrong image! It's more like them to snarl off into the busy, robust streets of Mumbai and then onto some wide hi...
